WARBEAST Parts Ways With Bassist, Prepares To Record New Album
March 23, 2012WARBEAST, the Texas-based band featuring RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt, guitarist Scott Shelby, GAMMACIDE/DEVILFIST bassist Alan Bovee, DEMONSEED drummer Joe Gonzalez and guitarist Bobby Tillotson (a.k.a. "J.R." ),has issued the following update:
"Regretfully, WARBEAST will be losing an original member of our family. Our bass player, Alan Bovee, will be leaving WARBEAST after our performance on June 2 at The Rail Club in Ft. Worth.
"This is sometimes the hardest part of being in a band. It is never easy to part ways with a band member that's been part of an amazing journey since day one. Alan was one of the core members of the original TEXAS METAL ALLIANCE gig that we did back in October 2006. That show led to us continuing this band that has now evolved in WARBEAST.
"WARBEAST would like to express that words can't describe how saddened we are that Alan's time with WARBEAST will be coming to an end soon. But, thankfully, there are no hard feelings at all… only great memories and our friendships with Alan will remain strong forever. He will always be part of our WARBEAST family. Oh, and you can bet your ass that we will send Alan out in grand style like he deserves. We have four shows left with Alan and we're gonna make the most out of all of them.
"We all wish Alan and his wife, Jennifer, nothing but the best of luck with their future. We will miss you, Alan… It will never be the same without you!!! You made it fun to be in this band. Thanks for your talent, dedication, humor and mainly for your friendship. We all love you, Mr. Bovee… we couldn't have done it without you! We promise to make you proud of WARBEAST!"
Commented Bovee: "It is after much contemplation, and with mixed emotions, that I hereby announce my departure from WARBEAST.
"Due to pressing Bovee family matters, I am unable to devote the time and attention needed for the recording of the upcoming sophomore album and subsequent touring that is to follow. As I will need to stay near family in the [Dallas/Fort Worth] area for the foreseeable future, it is only fair that I step down. While staying local and tending to the needs of my family, I will also be using my new-found time off from the music scene to pursue my other career goals.
"To Philip [Anselmo, Housecore Records owner], Kate and the Housecore family, thank you for all you have done for us. I will always remember great times playing alongside many of the best musicians in metal.
"I would like to thank my bandmates, present and past, for the honor and privilege of being a part of this band… The memories will last a lifetime! Without you I would not likely have made it this far in music. My hat goes off to all the bands and professionals alike that I have shared the stage with, as well as the friends and fans that have always been supportive. Special thanks to my beloved wife and those in my immediate family who have done far more than their share.
"I wish only the best for WARBEAST in the future. The past 5+ years of my life have been extraordinary to say the least! Not everyone gets the chance to drop everything and go do what I've been able to do with this band… be a touring musician. There have been a few pretty tough times, but so many great times, too. I wouldn't want to relive it any other way. I love you, guys!"
WARBEAST will enter a studio in Louisiana on May 4 to begin recording its sophomore album for a tentative late 2012 release via Housecore.
The band last fall completed a tour withGWAR and EVERY TIME I DIE.
WARBEAST's debut album, "Krush The Enemy", was released in the U.S. on April 27, 2010 via Philip Anselmo's (DOWN, PANTERA) Housecore Records. The record features ten tracks covering a wide range of metal terrain aimed squarely at the neck-snapping headbanger in the front row.
